Stanley J. Stewart, 94, passed away on Monday, November 6, 2023. He was born in Troy on August 18, 1929, to Stanley and Josephine Stewart. Stanley served in the U.S. Army for 39 years, retiring in 1989. He served in the Korean War and received many military awards during his service. Stanley then worked for the N.Y.S. Department of Taxation and Finance.
He was a life member and past commander of VFW Post 831 in Brunswick, a member and director of the Veterans Administration Volunteer Services, and a member of ITAM War Veterans in Saratoga Springs. Stanley was a charter member of the Saratoga National Cemetery Honor Guard Association. In his younger years, he was an avid trout fisherman and hunter. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife of 67 years, Mildred Stewart; and his siblings, Theresa Frank, Victoria Rafter, and Barbara Heck. Stanley is survived by his daughter, Patricia Lambertsen (Christian); son, William Stewart (Betty Jo); six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
